Flyer Croce parents "wins big" for readingVisitors to the Scholastic Book Fairs Website will read the following notation—announcing that Leo R. Croce Elementary was selected as a Presidential Award winner for the Fall Elementary School Contest. “Book Fair Luau was the perfect theme for sparking ideas and creating an immersive experience for the school’s students. The principal allowed an unused classroom to be used for the Fair, which allowed for extended preparations to take place. Volunteers explored decorating ideas months prior and traveled more than 400 miles to collect just the right elements. Real bamboo was used to construct an exterior entrance and a cashier station hut. Tiki decorations outside announced the Fair’s arrival. The awesome decorating plan helped boost student interest in reading, books, and attending the Book Fair.” A huge thank you is in order to our chairperson Judy Park and her committee (Ron Horch, Lynette Garrison and many others) for all their effort in producing an inviting venue for Croce students to celebrate reading. As a result, Croce has receive 500 scholastic dollars which will be used to shop in the scholastic warehouse to purchase even more new books for our school library. Thanks to the Mrs. Park and her committee! CHEETAH UPDATE This week at Croce Although I know we are all amazed at how fast this year has flown by, it is hard to believe we have only five more weeks left of our 2012-2013 school year! As always, these weeks are packed with learning activities and special events. As the Principal of Croce, I can honestly say I enjoy every day…there is never a dull moment for the Cheetahs. For those of you who may have noticed, I have been “missing in action” due to a respiratory problem. I genuinely missed all of you and am now back “in action” on a modified schedule with the help of Bob See. Mr. See has served in various capacities in the district, from site Principal to Director of Student Services. He has been an invaluable assistance to me, our staff and your children. I am hopeful that I will soon have my voice back. In the interim, thank you for your understanding. The following items are definitely “highlights” for the month of May.
I anticipate many good things for our students in the remaining weeks of this school year. This will be a “sprint to the finish” with good weather and exciting days. Thank you for your support and continuing involvement.
